Tortilla Taste Test
Our class has found a new favorite learning tool! Read on...
We just finished reading the story Dona Flor. Flor is a "giant woman with a big heart" who makes tortillas for her community neighbors...but of course her tortillas are GIANT, too! In this tall tale, Flor's neighbors use her giant tortillas as roofs for their homes and even as boats to help navigate the river.
Upon reading this story, I had an idea...an idea that involves food (always the BEST ideas!). Here's how it worked:
First we taste-tested a corn tortilla and a flour tortilla.
Finally, we analyzed our results. The eInstruction system is so cool; it takes the answers cast by the class and converts them into graphs right away. Here's our data. Can you tell which type of tortilla was liked best?
Thanks to the awesome VAE 2nd grade teachers for introducing me to the clickers, we are ready to click our way through 2nd grade! One Smartie Pants said we could even use them for lunch count, while another suggested using it during math warm-up. Look how smart your kiddos are!!!

Next, came the excitement! We used our new learning tools, eInstruction clickers, to voice our opinion on which type of tortilla we liked best by pushing either A or B on our remotes.
